Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, my fashion icon and world-renown fashion designer created the new scent that women everywhere would go crazy for. She was known for her revolutionary fashion that changed the way women dressed. She also changed the way women wore their scent. Her perfume would allow women's natural scent to peak through without dousing themselves in copious amounts of floral scents. The thing I find fascinating and inspiring about Chanel is her ability to brand the No.5 into, what was at the time, the most expensive perfume in the world. No.5 is a simple name, yet the way it was packaged and the high-quality contents of the fragrance, particularly the jasmine extract, gave it the luxurious appeal. Before the product came out on the market, Chanel spread the word by spraying it around the room during parties so her dinner guests would experience it for themselves. She told them all that it was not for sale. As soon as she released the product, she only sold it to a few privileged clientele to raise the product's exclusivity and glamour. No.5 is a strong example of how a product, when coupled with great marketing and design, can become a worldwide phenomenon... forever. LOVE.
